Offset Litho

At Graphics and Print, we offer two types of printing – Offset Litho and Digital. What’s the difference between the two?

There are a few key differences to be aware of.

Firstly, Offset Litho involves setting up a printing plate to create the first copy whereas Digital does not require printing plates of any kind to be developed. This means that the process for producing printed materials with Offset Litho takes slightly longer than with Digital.

Graphics and Print have invested in computer-to-plate technology that gives us a first generation image onto the plate, thereby providing customers with the highest quality possible.

Secondly, depending on how many copies of a printed item are required, Litho can prove to be much cheaper than Digital.

The rule of thumb is that for fewer than 500 printed items, Digital would prove slightly cheaper, but for print runs of 500 or more, Litho provides customers with the more cost-effective option.

Finally, Litho offers by far the better quality of print. Whilst both print options offer ‘full colour’ processes to create different colours, Offset Litho is the only option which allows for the use of dedicated ‘spot’ colours. This means they offer a higher degree of accuracy in terms of the colour you want. It also means that colours such metallic silver & gold - or even fluorescent inks - can be applied.

How we can support you
Our experienced team of Client Relationship Managers will be more than happy to explore the best option of print to meet your needs.  We will balance your requirements for speed, cost and quality to provide you with the best option for commercial printing.  In addition to this service, Graphics and Print believe in investing in new equipment to bring you the very latest technology that, in turn, helps to keep your costs down. As advancements in printing presses means that more efficiencies can be gained and faster delivery times achieved, so we pass these onto our customers in the form of cost reductions. We’ve recently invested in two Komori Lithrone L529 presses. One is a 2011 model, the other a 2008; both mean that we can bring you the very latest technology to ensure quality goods are delivered as quickly as possible at a price you’ll be happy with.
