ISO 9001 and ISO 14001

Graphics and Print are proud to announce that we have just recieved our accreditation to ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

These accreditations reiterate our commitment to quality and continual improvement that we have been providing for many years now to ensure that the service and products we deliver to you are second to none.

What is ISO 9001?
ISO 9000 is a family of standards for quality management systems. ISO 9000 is maintained by ISO, the International Organization for Standardization and is administered by accreditation and certification bodies. Some of the requirements in ISO 9001 (which is one of the standards in the ISO 9000 family) include:

A set of procedures that cover all key processes in the business;
Monitoring processes to ensure they are effective;
Keeping adequate records;
Checking output for defects, with appropriate and corrective action where necessary;
Regularly reviewing individual processes and the quality system itself for effectiveness; and
facilitating continual improvement

What is ISO 14001?
ISO 14001 is the international specification for an environmental management system (EMS). It specifies requirements for establishing an environmental policy, determining environmental aspects and impacts of products/activities/services, planning environmental objectives and measurable targets, implementation and operation of programs to meet objectives and targets, checking and corrective action, and management review.

ISO 14000 is similar to ISO 9000 quality management in that both pertain to the process (the comprehensive outcome of how a product is produced) rather than to the product itself. The overall idea is to establish an organized approach to systematically reduce the impact of the environmental aspects which an organization can control. Effective tools for the analysis of environmental aspects of an organization and for the generation of options for improvement are provided by the concept of Cleaner Production.

Carbon Neutral Paper

We have just printed and delivered our first job for one of our clients that has been Carbon Offset.

The use of Carbon Neutral paper compliments our range of recycled, FSC and PEFC Chain of Custody papers that can be requested by our customers who care about the environment and how they impact upon it.

How does Carbon Neutral Paper work?
When Carbon Neutral paper is specified an extra premium is charged on top of the paper price, the premium is calculated on how much carbon will be discharged in to the environment during the manufacturing process, this includes: electricity and gas usage, transportation fuel costs and processing costs for waste.

The premium is then invested into environmental offset scheme organisations or projects such as wind farms, solar installations, heat recovery systems or other energy efficiency projects thus negating the use of fossil fuels like oil, coal, and gas.

Once the remaining carbon emissions produced by the product or service have been offset by investing in a suitable offset scheme, it can claim to be carbon neutral. Namely, it has net zero emissions.

You are then entitled to use the Carbon Neutral logo on your printed material.
